Thanks very much for your appreciation and your story, I suspect the object you saw to be a meteor trail, because the appearance you describe fits quite nicely. However, a comet should appeared to be stationary in short time (for Lulin, a few hours), I hope you have a good time when observing the comet!

My apologize for this late reply, I was out for a 3-week travel recently, so I'm unable to access my blog very often. According to the most recent reports, the comet is now visible to rural-based naked-eye observers, so you may see the comet with naked-eye if your sky is dark enough. Even at urban areas, a small binocular like a 7x50 one should make the comet turn up with ease. Hope this help! Good luck!
